Walgreens to Sell CBD Products

By CBD Retail Trends Staff | March 28, 2019

Walgreens and CVS will sell CBD products in select states

Walgreens told CNBC that it will sell cannabinoid (CBD) creams, patches and sprays in Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vermont, South Carolina, Illinois and Indiana.

“After a thorough review and analysis, we will be offering certain products containing Cannabidiol (CBD) in nearly 1,500 Walgreens stores in select states,” Walgreens spokesperson Brian Faith told CNBC. “This product offering is in line with our efforts to provide a wider range of accessible health and wellbeing products and services to best meet the needs and preferences of our customers.”

On March 21, CVS announced that 800 CVS locations in Alabama, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland and Tennessee will sell topical CBD products.

CBD, a hemp-derived cannabidiol, is a nonpsychoactive ingredient in cannabis.

Although CBD is no longer labeled a controlled substance, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said companies still can’t add CBD to food or sell it as a dietary supplement.
