Those who have been wondering whether CBD can help relieve stress and anxiety can relax. CBD helps moderate stress by instilling a feeling of calm.
Research on CBD continues but results routinely confirm previous findings. According to many, CBD that is administered orally — edibles, oils or capsules — begin to produce results after roughly 30 minutes to two hours. Those who either smoke or vape CBD oil have reported relief in less time.
Some users who have found relief report that they use 25-milligram doses of full-spectrum high-CBD oil two times before lunch and before retiring in the course of a day. Since CBD is non-intoxicating, there is no “high” associated with it. Instead, those who use it report a wave of calm coming over them, which helps them to relax, and can actually elevate their mood.
The healthcare community has been looking at CBD as an aid for stress and anxiety for a long time. Some of the research include:
- Research from 2011 showed how CBD reduced anxiety and discomfort during public speaking in people with social anxiety disorder.
- A study in 2011 found that CBD reduced anxiety symptoms in people with social anxiety disorder.
- A 2015 analysis of 49 studies found evidence that CBD may provide some relief for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
- A research project in 2019 determined that nearly eight of 10 people who were struggling with anxiety and sleep found relief with CBD. Almost 80% of people’s anxiety improved, and almost 70% reported improved sleep in the first month.
However, according to research results reported in December 2022 that was carried out by Newark, Del., based Future Market Insights, Inc. (FMI), a business consulting and market research firm, marijuana-derived CBD oil and hemp-derived CBD oil plants possess stress and anxiety-reducing properties.
“CBD oil, when consumed in the form of a supplement, offers therapeutic benefits for various neurological conditions and disorders such as depression, nerve-related pain, sleep disorders and inflammatory pain,” the firm reported. “This has fueled the adoption of CBD oil in the painkiller and anxiety-treatment drug manufacturing industry.”
